2009 Scholarships and Awards
In June, scholarships are awarded to current Carver Christian High School students in recognition of their achievements over the past school year. The Awards Committee will make the selection according to the criteria for each scholarship. Application must be made for the Berean Christian Education Scholarship, 2007 First Class Scholarship and the Ministry Legacy Award.
- The Berean Christian Education Scholarship is awarded to a graduating Grade 12 student who is planning to pursue a post-secondary education in a Christian university or college. The award is given to a student who is actively engaged in life at Carver, motivates others to become involved, has above average scholastic achievement, displays a strong entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen and leads an exemplary life in the study and application of scripture. Application for this award will consist of a two page written essay explaining the value of their Christian education as well as how continuing this education will benefit them and others. The successful candidate must validate acceptance into a Christian post-secondary university or college. The award will be paid directly to the institution where enrolled.
Criteria: Most compelling reason and need for attending a Christian post-secondary institution; proof of enrollment and acceptance in a Christian post-secondary institution
Award: Two Individual awards of $1,000 each.
- The 2007 First Class Scholarship is awarded in honour of Carver’s first graduating class of 2007. Its purpose is to endorse passionate involvement in the school community that is characteristic of Carver’s student body. This scholarship is intended to help graduating students pursue a fulltime post-secondary education in order to further their influence as a servant of Christ.
Criteria: The successful candidate should demonstrate love for others by their active involvement in the school community. Their service is motivated by godly servanthood, a desire to fellowship with other students, and a desire for Carver to model God’s love and grace to those in the school community. They personally model God’s love and grace by the example they set in their relationships. This person shapes the ongoing legacy of Carver Christian High School by their service, leaving a lasting influence on the school community. The successful candidate must validate acceptance into a post-secondary university or college and have a minimum GPA of 3.3.
Award: $1000
- The Principal's Achievement Award is awarded to a student who has persevered and successfully adapted to academic challenges. This student will have shown significant academic improvement and have consistently modeled servant leadership.
Criteria: Academic achievement, adapt to academic challenges, servant leader.
Award: $500
- The Carver Academic Achievement Award is given to the student with the highest GPA in grade 12.
Criteria: Highest GPA
Award: $500
- The Carver Leadership Scholarship is awarded to a student who as clearly demonstrated an understanding of servant leadership. The student will have been involved in school leadership opportunities such as leading student council, chapel, missions or clubs. The student will have demonstrated leadership in decision making within the school setting in social, spiritual or academic areas The successful applicant should demonstrate qualities that reflect servant leadership such as: integrity, collaboration, humility, discernment, organizational skills, teamwork and ability to resolve conflict. The successful candidate must validate acceptance into a post-secondary university or college. The award will be paid directly to the institution where enrolled.
Criteria: Supportive, enabling, collaborative, humble, servant leadership
Award: $500
- The Ministry Legacy Award is given to a child of a pastor/missionary attending the school.
Criteria: Student applying must have a GPA of 3.75 or higher and be involved consistently in their church community. A 1200-1500 word essay is needed with application. Essay title is "My Calling as a Pastor's Kid or Missionary's Kid". The successful applicant should demonstrate qualities that reflect understanding of their unique calling as a pastor's/missionary's child.

Awards Committee
The Awards committee will consist of a member of the Governing Council, a Carver Finance committee member, two parent representatives and two staff representatives. The committee will work with the staff on a list of names for each award as well as review any applications necessary. All criteria will be considered before the award will be given. Some awards may not be given every year.
